Joint-stock silk waste spinning mill
Saint-Rambert-en-Bugey, Rue de la Schappe , FRA
1896
The factory for ’schapping’ of the silk waste was established in Saint-Rambert as early as 1820. A new main production building was constructed on the banks of the river Albarine based on C. A. Séquin-Bronner’s project from October 1896 – a three-storey building with a shed layout of the top storey made of a steel frame supplied by Gustave Eiffel’s bridgeworks. In 1986 it was destroyed in fire while the remaining buildings, situated by the road, including a chimney made way for the new construction of social housing in 2019. A decorative entrance to the factory dating back to 1898 was preserved, with its blueprint also preserved in the archive of the Séquin-Bronner office.
